Yoga music can really add an element of inner calmness to a yoga session. There are many music genres out there and yoga music is more than just the sound of a guitar strumming a bunch of chords. Many people think that it is an easy exercise to meditate with music that induces an uplifting state of awareness. However, learning how to meditate with music requires more than simply taking a few quiet moments to listen to a lovely song.
Remain in the present with yoga music
Having a good musical workout in your yoga session is one thing, but once you are able to remain in that state for more than a few minutes you will realize that there is much more to it than just listening to a favorite song. As a beginner to yoga, it is important to take the time to learn the different sounds associated with the different poses in order to remain at the right level of focus. Before starting a yoga session you will want to find a nice piece of music or CD that will help you stay centered. So which ones should you choose? Usually the songs that are used in yoga sessions fall into one of three categories. Some of the popular choices include ballads, Indian classical, gospel, and pop.
Practice the yoga poses
When you are practicing the poses, it is a good choice to choose a song that is soft enough to avoid any undue tension that may come from the music. However, the majority of times you will have a great deal of tension coming up from the other parts of your body. This can be just as easy to choose sacred music, though, which has the same effect. If you have a favorite spiritual song in your head, then perhaps that is the right song for you. So, it will really depend on what type of music you enjoy and what you are most comfortable with.
Sacred music can be a little bit tough to figure out as there are somany of them out there. It is a good idea to search the Internet for an array of sacred songs, but also keep in mind that the titles are mostly going to be from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is not to say that every sacred piece of music is the same. So if you want to be in the mood for yoga meditation, you should consider using music that will inspire you. You don’t want to have too much music in your mind that will pull you out of the moment. Sometimes it is best to use a variety of sounds so that you don’t get so caught up in the music that you forget your body is supposed to be doing the work.
